HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

 

 

Statement of Intent

 

  1. The policy of Romsey Men’s Shed is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions and environment for all our members, volunteers and users, plus any other people who are directly affected by our activities.

 

Responsibility

 

  1. Overall and final responsibility for our health and safety at all our activities organised by Romsey Men’s Shed lies with the Trustees. This responsibility will be delegated to a named member for each of our activities. This named person will be responsible for ensuring that this policy is upheld.

 

  1. For our management meetings the responsible person is (the chair).

 

  1. For all other activities the responsible person will be the person named in advance and their name will be noted on all relevant Risk Assessments. All Members and volunteers involved will be made aware of who is responsible for Health and Safety.

 

General Arrangements

 

  1. The main activity of Romsey Men’s Shed is to provide amenities and a working space in which social and hobby activities can take place for the benefit of the participants and the further community. 

  2. For particular events and activities a specific Risk Assessment will be carried out. For general meetings and activities a Risk Assessment will also be carried out. Appropriate precautions will be carried out to minimise hazards at all events and activities of The Romsey Men’s Shed.

  3. A record of all Risk Assessments will be kept and reviewed annually.

  4. We will have (or access to) a trained First Aider at all Romsey Men’s Shed events.

  5. We will ensure that sufficient persons at any of our events will be aware of Emergency Procedures.

 

 

This policy will be reviewed once a year.  Date of next review December 2017.
