A new scale model Romsey Abbey was unveiled at Sunday’s Epiphany service to launch the 900th anniversary of the founding of the abbey. Following an approach from the abbey, Romsey Men’s Shed members Barry Woodley, Trevor Bond and Bill Slegg, made the model over a several months. This was one of the most challenging but rewarding projects taken on by the Shed. The model measures 3ft by 2ft and is made of jointed and glued plywood, and then varnished. The model is in nine pieces which come apart to show how the different parts fit together. It will be used in the abbey for educational purposes and in the creche.
