Using the Workshop

For the safety of all our members, Health and Safety is of critical importance.  Please make sure you read and understand our policy - see below and on the documents page.

We have a well equipped workshop with professional standard power tools such as a planer thicknesser, mitre saw, pillar drill and bench saw.  A risk assessment has been completed for the workshop and is displayed inside.  There is a separate risk assessment for each community project.  We have a full range of hand tools which can also be used in the covered workspace. Memebrs should always use appropriate PPE.

For the safety of all members and before starting to use the power tools, new members attend an introduction to the workshop including demonstration of safe use of power tools.  These sessions are run on a regular basis and once completed and signed off members are free to use the tools within the workshop operational rules.  If in any doubt, please asked an experienced member.  Details of future workshop introduction sessions are raised at Thursday meetings and are on the SHEDule section of this website.

A risk assessment has been completed for the workshop and is displayed inside.  There is a separate risk assessment for each community project.

Comprehensive manuals for safe use of power tools are kept in the workshop, for the use of all members.
